A delegation of Bodo leaders on Wednesday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, demanding creation of a separate Bodoland state.

New Delhi: A delegation of Bodo leaders on Wednesday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here, demanding creation of a separate Bodoland state and claimed the prime minister assured it of starting a discussion on the issue at the highest political level.

"He gave us a patient hearing and told us at the highest political level discussion will start very soon. He will entrust Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde for this," Lok Saba MP Sansuma Khungur Bwiswmuthiary, who was part of the Bodoland People`s Front delegation, told reporters outside Parliament.

The leaders submitted a memorandum to Singh and hoped the UPA leadership will take a "positive" political decision for creation of Bodoland on the lines of Telengana.
Bwiswmuthiary also said they would be meeting Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

The demand for Bodoland gained ground following the decision of the UPA government for creation of Telengana.
