New Delhi: Lalu Prasad Yadav was at it again. Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the debate in Parliament on Tuesday on the Lokpal Bill, the RJD president said, “We should start a save Anna campaign”. This was a direct reaction to the reports in the media regarding the health of the social activist. He added, when laughter broke out in Parliament, “Anna’s life is precious. Don’t take this lightly.”

Mocking at the three day fast being undertaken by Anna Hazare, Lalu Yadav categorically said, “We cannot have a fast at the drop of the hat,” adding, “There is no unity in Team Anna.”

He also slammed the government, “The Prime Minister has given an election speech in the Parliament today.” While rejecting the government’s Lokpal Bill Lalu said, “This bill is not correct. It should be returned to the Standing Committee. Don’t bring the bill in a hurry. We also want a strong anti-graft bill but this bill will destabilise the Constitution.”

In a friendly banter he told Manmohan Singh, “I do not doubt your integrity. We want you to become the Lokpal.”

"Supremacy of Parliament must be protected. Bill will be a death warrant for all elected representatives,” he maintained.

Invoking the ‘Mahabharata’ Lalu said, “Draupadi had five husbands but it seems that the CBI will have nine husbands.”

Inclusion of the CBI under the ambit of Lokpal Bill is a bone of contention between Team Anna and the government.
