New Delhi: Five Indian girls qualified for the women`s singles main draw of the ITF Futures tournament, starting here from Monday, after winning their respective final rounds, here on Sunday.
Eetee Maheta got the better of compatriot Adnya Naik 6-4, 6-3 while Amrita Mukherjee took out Chinese Taipei`s Chia Hsen Yang 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 in the third and final qualifying round.
Shreya Pasricha came from behind to tame compatriot Tarrannum Handa 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 and Ashmitha Easwaramurthi downed Preeti Gokhale 6-3, 6-1.
The final girl to make the cut was Simran Kaur Sethi, who also came from behind Sai Samhitha Chamarthi 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in her third round of the qualifying event.
However, Sumeera Kamil, Sahan Shetty and Tanisha Rohira missed out after losing their matches to contestants from abroad.
India`s Prerna Bhambri is top seed and Nidihi Chilumula is second seed.
