Southampton: The first day of the third Test match here at the Rose Bowl, completely belonged to England. The hosts made merry of Indian bowling and some careless fielding that allowed them to dictate terms.
Alastair Cook rode his luck after being dropped by Ravindra Jadeja on 15 at third slip and went on to score a well made 95. On the other hand Gary Ballance scored a superb century and will look to add more today. With him at the crease lies Ian Bell and the out of form batsman will look to follow on the footsteps of his skipper and score big here.
It was a good toss to win for England and they made full use of the batting conditions. It will be interesting to see how the pitch shapes up today as it has very little for the bowlers on the first day.
Indian bowlers need to have patience and get early wickets in the first session. England are in a commanding position and another let off will see them score a huge total on Monday. The hosts will be eyeing anything but an excess of 450 runs on a flat pitch. India need wickets and Dhoni cannot rely on part timers to do that. He needs to overcome his negativity.Stay informed on all the latest news, real-time breaking news updates, and follow all the important headlines in india news and world News on Zee News.
