New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shahnawaz Hussain Thursday described former union minister K Natwar Singh`s book as an eye-opener, which has once again highlighted who was actually calling the shots during the UPA Government`s ten-year-rule.
"Natwar Singh`s book is an eye opener for everyone; His book has exposed them. She had said that she had sacrificed the prime minister`s post. There is always a threat for the person who sits on the seat of Prime Minister. It was only out of fear that she did not accept the position. “Were they afraid of it? Then what service will they do to our country. Congress has nothing to say on this. Have they not met Natwar Singh?" Hussain told ANI. "It is now proved that it was the government of the mother and son without any responsibility. It is now proved that they were running the UPA Government, and Dr Manmohan Singh was just the face of it," the BJP leader added. The book is based on Singh`s tenure as a Congress leader in which he has claimed that Congress president Sonia Gandhi refused to become Prime Minister of India in 2004 because her son Rahul Gandhi, opposed it, as he was afraid that like his father Rajiv Gandhi and grandmother Indira Gandhi, she also would be killed. Reportedly, Sonia Gandhi and her daughter Priyanka Gandhi invited Natwar Singh to their house on May 7 to request him to delete such facts from the book. It may be recalled that Singh had to resign from the UPA-I Government in 2005 for his alleged role in the Iraqi food-for-oil scam.
