Nitish`s unease with Modi ‘unfortunate’: BJP New Delhi: BJP on Thursday dismissed as "irrelevant and unfortunate" Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's objection to his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi becoming NDA's Prime Ministerial candidate in 2014 general elections but said that the "mature" coalition is not under any threat.

"It is an irrelevant and unfortunate debate," Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said in reply to a question on Kumar's comments against Modi. She maintained that the focus at present is Presidential poll and the issue of Prime Ministerial candidate has no immediate relevance.

However, BJP accepted that it had not been able to convince ally JD(U) on supporting P A Sangma in the Presidential election. Regretting this, Swaraj and her Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley hoped this was a "one off" case of fissures in NDA ranks and would not affect the coalition.

"NDA is a mature alliance. There is no question of NDA breaking up," Swaraj said. Despite several serious attempts by BJP to persuade JD(U), the ally stuck to its stand of supporting UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee. Top BJP leaders had talked to JD(U) President Sharad Yadav and the Bihar Chief Minister on the issue.

BJP leaders, preferring anonymity, said they have not been able to understand the logic behind JD(U)'s decision.

JD(U) is keeping its options open ahead of the 2014 elections and, hence, the decision to support Mukherjee, political observers felt.

Kumar had ruled out Modi, without naming him, as NDA's PM candidate when he said the person should have "secular credentials". He said the candidate should be acceptable to all NDA constituents.

On Tuesday, he had stressed that NDA should declare its Prime Ministerial candidate in advance, saying, "This leader should be acceptable to every constituent of the alliance. To me, the leader of the coalition should have secular credentials."

Kumar has made known his unease with Narendra Modi a number of times earlier because of which the Gujarat Chief Minister was kept away from campaigning in Bihar during the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Time has come for BJP to say bye bye to JD(U) before they say..The most important fact is that BJP within is not united..leaders speaks in different voices and that is the reason why Nitish / Lalu / Mulayam blackmail the whole Nation in the name of bogus secularism..

Way back LK Advani,Uma Bharti and the party thought by demolishing the Babri Masjid, the BJP would become the ruling party for ever. That never happened. Now the RSS and the BJP think that the Butcher of thousands of Indian People in Gujrat Narender Modi can become the Prime Minister of India in 2014 is irrelevant and very unfortunate.Even Atal Ji,as PM protested and detested that Modi should be removed as the Chief Minister. But LK Advani, the Dy.PM and the home minister successed in protecting him.Atal Ji pleaded that Modi apna raj dharam nibhain. We do think that the country will never allow that to happen. One black sheep will be enough to tarnish the image of the country across the globe. Not only that, that will not be in the National interest, which is several times bigger than the individual interest. We wonder if the BJP has only Modi to put up and no body else for the Prime minister. That will be a National Disaster.

Probably God also can not understand these politicians. They have no ethics, no morale. Nitish has also started behaving like MULAYAM, who ditched Mamta Banerjee. Nitish also want to sit in the lap of Congress, it seems. But our Janata is wise enough to understand this game.

Whats the achievement of so called secular congress in last 50 years except corruption. Today its BJP govern states giving good administrtion & developement. just take example when BJP elected kalam as president, its proved as best president as per survey. I hail from Bihar & This is for the first time that I feel embarrassed with Nitish Kumar. He has shown utter immaturity and have let us down. The truth is that he, along with Narendra Modi are two prominent candidates for PM from NDA side. Nitish kumar does not want to lose this opportunity and started playing games. I urge him not to play spoilsport and just behave. He is a very good leader and we love him for what he is doing. To play secularism card does not go well with his image. Please behave and think of India as a nation. We do not expect dirty politics from you Mr. Chief Minister. I beg you, do not get entrapped in pseudo-secularism of congress and SP. There are very few good people left who can shape India. Just be one of them. May God bless you and Narendra Modi.

In India each person is secular as per the constitution of India. If the one is not he has to face the consequences of going against the constitution.Anybody, doubting other`s credential should first observe himself and weigh the consequences of proving his character.

Since sixty years of independence many parties have fooled the people in the name of secularism. Modi is the one person who is popular in India due to his good governance. If Modi is to be blamed for Gujrat violence then Rajiv Gandhi should also be blamed for 1984 riots. Why didn’t Nitish opposed the prime ministership of Rajiv Gandhi then.
