  • Opposition can't tell an elected government what to choose and what not, says Sharma.

  • Our sons and daughters will get jobs if FDI is allowed in the retail sector, says the minister.

  • I acknowledge that if the government went back on the assurance on FDI in retail made in Parliament, that's a serious charge. However, the charge is far from the truth, says Anand Sharma.

We are a country which is not able to feed our own population, but still grains get eaten away by rats or lost in go-downs and Vegetables perish due to lack of refrigeration. What we are doing right now is giving hefty price to goods which this trade sell taking huge commission(sort of kickbacks) , why cant farmer directly sell goods to outlet. Considering more than 50 % population in farming & FDI will benefit more than 100 crores of population it should be brought in. I dont think this middlemen will perish, they will become more competitive. Amm admi will benefit

FDI in retail would only empower the small retailer, would ensure streamlined backbone which the small retailer could piggyback on to reach new markets and customers, everyone at all times resent change, FDI in retail is no different, if it was for the left then we Indians should still be living in 1950s growth and socialism can go hand in hand, look at CHINA but left here is neither on the right side or on the left side of development or progress. Lets not resist change when its good for us, look at the amount of investment that`s going to happen in India, and probably and rightly so this investment will demand infrastructural development, provide thousands of jobs, create more buyers for farmers and their produce. I pray and hope that sanity prevails, and the lost momentum is again gained. Jai Hind.

I have a common feeling that FDI in retail not only bring down the prices of each and every commodities, but it will also create lot of employment opportunities. I have noticed from the comments delivered by different persons that once FDI comes in to existence, Chinese will dump their variety of goods to our country. May these people who have delivered such comments have not seen the outside of their houses and that is why they are delivering such irresponsible and meaningless comments. In each and every market of our Country, there are variety of not only Chinese, but goods from Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, USA, (only named few because of time short) are available. One more thing I would like to bring to the notice of such commentators that recently I come across an importer who import shoulder bags at a very cheaper rate, and the quality is as good as than the Indian manufacturers and this trader is selling the same at a very low price. This will remind you that the Indian Public especially the poor is going to get the benefit from FDI in retail. You need not welcome Wallmart or any other mart for Chinese Goods. Whatever goods of Chinese, you will get the same now and there is no need for FDI in retail. Without knowing the story, you will not understand `KATHAKALI`, which please note.

FDI in multibrand retail will surely give more choices to the larger community of the common man although the smaller community of traders would be hurt.

SP is acting as minority castiest party, BSP is acting as dalit party, DMK is also acting as Dalit Party in their respective states, but the actions shown by the leaders of these political outfits in Parliament and their speeches they made in outside the parliament does not match. It means, in the name of minority, dalit love, they are cheating to the minority community and dalits throughout the country and getting favors for their political leaders and elected representatives. People should start agitation infront of the political offices of these parties who are taling one and doing another in Parliament and ask them to resign their elected representatives immediately. Start a fresh agitation in those states. If Congress managed passing FDI in Parliament and force to bring it in any states, people should oppose opening of any retail through FDI for which multi national companies may bring it into India through back door with the help of Indian Retail Companies. We also suggest all the MPs who are supporting this in Parliament to be treated as anti Indian and people should ask them to put their papers immediately and resign from the post or force them to resign it. DO NOT ALLOW FDI in any parts of the country AND SAVE OUR COUNTRY FROM FOREIGN CLUTCHES!!!!

For a task of direct procuring from farmers and supplying to end customer the government has done nothing significant since almost 70 years. most of the policies are favouring middlemen who pocket large part of commissions. now there is talk that FDI will solve this problem and give good prices to both farmers and customers. this amounts to admission that all elected governments have been incapable to resolve this issue or did not want to resolve this issue. i oppose FDI in retail as its another cash cow and false election promise to people.

Manish Tiwari asks for the secular parties to vote against BJP in an FDI- for GODs sake this is not an vote which tests the secular nature of the parties, this is FDI, either you vote for the people or anti-people. All those people who site saving country for non secular forces to abstain or vote against FDI motion are anti-people for sure.

If BSP, SP and DMK helps Congress in this bill, people of this country will never trust these political parties and people of the country will reject their candidates in the next general election whenever it happens. We also ask people of UP and TN to ask their representatives they have elected to resign from their respective seats immediately as they are helping anti national policiies in Parliament and doing double standards on several issues. They do not deserve to be sitting as ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES from their repsective areas as their party openly states that FDI in retail is anti national and they will never ever support to allow this policy to happen. BSP, SP - the most castiest forces in UP should be thrown out by the people of UP and DMK - the symbol of corruption in South should also be removed from the political map of India. By supporting FDI in retail, Congress is completing the sell out of India to their foreign masters and SP, BSP, DMK and other parties are acting as JUDAS - Cheaters of Indian Republic

100% true...FDI is reverse of software or BPO outsourcing from US or foreign countries bringing dollars and creating employment..its selling of Chinese scrap products in India through Tesco and Walmart....these are mere cruel politics used by some disloyal political crooks either bribed or some personal profit or some foreign pressure....stop FDI...its going to paralyze small scale and medium scale industries and bring profit to our rivals China......

    sonu - bangalore
As we r addicted to McDonalds,Adidas,Nike,Levis....similarly people will be addicted to all Chinese products after FDI...Indian manufacturer will become hand pact and will be forced to shut down because they cannot compete to Chinese products.Instead of promoting and selling others product govt sud support Indian manufacturers to prosper and export.FDI single retail is enough we dont want in multiretail..\
