New Delhi: BJP leader and former union minister Shahnawaz Hussain today hosted an Iftar-cum-dinner party which was attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice-President Hamid Ansari and several Congress leaders.

The Prime Minister avoided all questions from the media except the one about the impact the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damages Bill 2010 would have once it is passed by Parliament.

"Wait till it is passed," was his cryptic reply.

He did not respond to a question whether the government would try to get the Bill passed in the current session of Parliament.

Several Congress MPs, union ministers and Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar were also present at the Iftaar held at the residence of Hussain.

Among the BJP leaders who attended the Iftaar were L K Advani and Sushma Swaraj but the party's President Nitin Gadkari and the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley did not make it.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Prithviraj Chavan, who is credited with having brought BJP on board on the Civil Nuclear Bill, was one of the first guests to arrive.

Minister for Minority Affairs Salman Kursheed attended the Iftaar and was heard pulling the leg of Hussain for "inviting more Congress leaders than BJP's".

Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was a popular guest with several people jostling for his attention.

Hussain's political adversaries in Bihar, RJD Chief Lalu Prasad and LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan also made it to the Iftaar as did Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
