New Delhi: JD(S) will be holding a rally on April 27 in Bangalore to oppose the recent increase in prices of petrol and diesel by the Centre and also against the policies of the BJP-led state government in Karnataka.

JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda today told reporters that the rally will be held on a day when all non-Congress and non-BJP parties have called for a nation-wide bandh over price rise.

"While there will be a nation-wide bandh on that day called by all the 13 non-Congress non-BJP parties against price rise, the rally in Bangalore is being held by my party as part of the overall protest. Apart from price rise, the rally is also against the anti-people policies of the BJP-led government in Karnataka which has failed to control price rise there," Gowda said.

Regarding a cut motion against Finance bill, he said "it will depend on how the UPA government acts on price rise. If it rolls back the hike in diesel and petrol prices, then we will take a call on it after consulting each other (all the 13 parties)".

The former Prime Minister said that after the budget session of Parliament comes to an end on May 12, he would be touring all the districts of Karnataka with the aim of reviving his party.

"I will tour all the districts of the state after May 12 in an effort to mobilise party workers for reviving JD(S) in Karnataka. I want to take BJP head on in the next assembly elections," he said.

Gowda also said he would be pitching for his party secretary general Danish Ali's nomination for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha bypolls due in June this year.

"There would be four vacancies in Rajya Sabha from Karnataka. While two seats are with BJP and one is with Congress, I want to nominate Danish Ali for the remaining seat, for which we need Congress' support. Twice earlier, we have supported their candidates. So this time we can expect its support. I will go all out for this," Gowda said.

The four forthcoming vacancies from Karnataka include those of M Venkaiah Naidu (BJP), M A M Ramaswamy (JDS), Oscar Fernandes and B K Hariprasad (both Congress). The term of all these MPs is coming to an end in June this year.
