Dalits need Jupiter’s escape velocity to succeed: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday opined that the Dalit community needs escape velocity to get empowered in the society. Speaking at the National Conference on Dalit Adhikar Diwas organised by All India Valmiki Federation, Rahul said the Dalit community needs Jupiter’s escape velocity. There is an escape velocity in terms of caste in our country. To succeed if you are a lower caste you need an escape velocity, he said. “Dalits need escape velocity, we are proud of Dr. Ambedkar, he was the first person to use escape velocity,” Rahul said. Elaborating further on the issue, Rahul said the second step towards Dalit empowerment was the emergence of Bahujan Samaj Party founder Kanshi Ram. However he chose to attack Mayawati, he said, “Under Mayawati, Dalit empowerment is now stalled, because she has stopped the growth of Dalit leadership.” “One or two Dalit leaders cannot galvanize a movement, we need lakhs of Dalit leaders for it to progress,” Rahul added. “Congress party is the voice of India, We want people from Dalit community as MPs and MLAs, we want everyone to participate,” Rahul said.
