Arsenal eyeing `wantaway` Rooney as Suarez hopes fade

London: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly made a new move for wantaway Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney following Liverpool star Luis Suarez returning to training after apologising to the club for his recent conduct.
According to the Mirror, Arsenal`s shock Rooney enquiry indicates that their hopes of bringing in the Uruguayan have faded for which they are looking into other options with Liverpool determined not to sell Suarez to the Gunners.
However, United boss David Moyes is adamant that Rooney is not for sale despite an approach to Old Trafford and Rooney`s camp reportedly made by Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis, although Rooney remains unsettled and is reportedly interested in a move to Arsenal. The report further said that Arsenal`s English pair Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott had reportedly joked with Rooney while on England duty that he should join them, adding that Arsenal is determined to make a big signing before the end of the window with the chances of a Suarez deal fading. According to the report, Suarez had met Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and made amends by apologising to his teammates for his `wrong attitude`, which allowed him to join in with the first-team squad`s preparations for the game against Stoke City, despite being ruled out through suspension for the first six matches. The report further said that Wenger wants to land `two or three` signings by the end of the transfer window with Atletico Madrid full-back Juanfran the latest to be looked at. ANI
