New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday criticised the UPA for raising the price of diesel, and said the government is insensitive to the plight of the people.
"The present government is insensitive to the plight of the people. Government is still increasing the prices of diesel, petrol and LPG. Earlier they used to attribute this increase to the global prices. But now the prices of crude oil are decreasing in the whole world. So why this raise?" Naqvi said. "It is not the government that is controlling the fares but it is the oil mafia. And this is what happens when the government is totally paralyzed and is incapable of investigating all this," he added. On Saturday, diesel prices were raised by 50 paise per litre and petrol prices were left unchanged. The price of diesel had been raised by 50 paise per litre excluding VAT. It will now cost 53 .67 rupees a litre in Delhi, 58.8 rupees a litre in Kolkata, 60.70 rupees a litre in Mumbai and 57.23 rupees a litre in Chennai.
