Serena Williams eyeing to create ‘legacy’

London: Serena Williams, who won her fourth U.S. Open title and 15th Grand Slam over all, has said she is not thinking about retirement yet, and added she wants to win many more tournaments to create her own legacy.

Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova have 18 Grand Slams wins each and Steffi Graf is top with 22 major titles. Williams has been in ruthless form this summer, winning Wimbledon, Olympic gold and the U.S. Open. At the age of 30, Williams is beginning to think of her place in history, but she admits she still feels as young and excited before every match as she used to at the start of her career. “I have not thought about the records until recently. I never thought I’d even come close to breaking those records. But if I can play consistently and play some more matches at Wimbledon, then it will be awesome,” a daily quoted Williams, as saying. “Even though I’m 30, I feel so young and I’ve never felt as fit and more excited and more hungry. Even with this win, I’m sitting here so excited still to play the next Grand Slam and see what I can do,” she added. “I will think about my legacy when I’m done. I have so much more I want to create for the history,” she said. ANI
