Biting cold wave sweeping Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh Wednesday further intensified with minimum temperatures recording a dip at some places, even though there was some relief from the foggy conditions.

Chandigarh recorded the season`s coldest night at 5.7 degrees Celsius. However, it was a fog-less day and a bright sun shine greeted the residents here. According to the MeT here, Narnaul in Haryana was the coldest place recording a low of 3.2 deg C, down three notches followed by Hisar, which shivered at 3.8 deg C, also down three degrees. Bhiwani and Karnal, too, experienced the chill recording respective below normal minimums of 4.6 deg C and 4.8 deg C. Ambala, too, had a cold night at 6.8 deg C. In Punjab, Amritsar shivered at a low of 5.2 deg C, while respective minimums at Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 6.6 deg C and 7 deg C. A MeT official said here that fog had lifted from most places in the two states today, though misty conditions prevailed this morning at a few places. He said that cold weather conditions would continue in the region during the next few days.
