Four booked for cheating girl in Punjab

A man, along with his two family members and a friend, were booked on Monday for allegedly duping Rs 1.20 lakh from a girl on the pretext of marriage in the district.

Fatehgarh Sahib: A man, along with his two family members and a friend, were booked on Monday for allegedly duping Rs 1.20 lakh from a girl on the pretext of marriage in the district.

The girl, an engineering student here filed a case of cheating against Gagan Sharma, his father Somnath and brother Mahesh, who hail from Ludhiana and are residents of new Ashok Nagar and a friend Vinod Kashyap, police said.

According to police, the girl befriended Gagan on Facebook in 2010 and he along with his friend Vinod started meeting her in college in 2011.

Even, Gagan assured her to marry till 2012 and allegedly took Rs 1.20 lakh and a laptop from her, police said.

Later, Gagan`s father along with Vinod took Rs 20,000 from her, they said.

She also complained that Gagan provided his fake addresses and when she contacted Gagan`s father, he told her that his son had already married and had gone abroad.
