Batala: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested the prime accused in the alleged rape of a minor girl student at Mari Panwan village under Sri Hargobindpur police Station.
Gursewak Singh, a resident of Mari Panwan village here, was arrested on the outskirts of the village last evening, SSP Tulsi Ram told reporters here.
The class 10th girl had yesterday alleged in her complaint that when she was on her way to school in a school bus on January 21, two motorcycle-borne youths came and took her forcibly from the vehicle near Khokharwal village.
Later, they took her to a Dera at Mari panwan village where Gursewak allegedly raped her repeatedly, SSP Tulsi Ram said.
The identity of the other accused is yet to be ascertained, said the police.
