Dausa (Rajasthan): Following the public suicide of farmer Gajendra Singh in the national capital, Dausa district Tehsildar Satish Kumar Jain on Thursday stated that the former was 'financially sound'.

"The crop damage in the region was below 24 percent. The government has said that only farmers who have incurred a loss of 33 percent or above can claim the compensation. Gajendra Singh was financially sound," Jain told ANI.

Gajendra had committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree during the rally at Jantar Mantar.

As per reports, a suicide note was found that revealed the farmer, who had three children, was banished from his house after his crop was damaged. He took the extreme step because he had no means of support his family.

The incident also sparked criticism for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, with opposition parties condemning that the rally went on despite the grave incident.
