Jodhpur: In a shocking incident, a Class IX student brought liquor to his school here and shared it with other students.

The Delhi Public School (DPS) has rusticated the student.

Admitting that the student had brought cold drink laced with liquor to the class, school principal BS Yadav said, "When I spoke to the student, he confessed that he had brought whiskey laced in cold drink and shared it with others."

"Considering the seriousness of the matter, we have rusticated the student and have let off other students in the class with a stern warning," he said.

The student brought two bottles of cold drink laced with liquor on Tuesday, one of which was reportedly sent to other class, whereas the other one started passing from one student to other in the class room.

"This continued till the third period, when the bottle reached the hands of the girls. After the fourth period, one of the girls turned tipsy and started dancing in the class," a school official said, adding this was noticed by a teacher passing by, who reported the matter to the management.

Last morning, parents gathered in large number outside the school and held a demonstration.

"It was very unfortunate that liquor was not only brought in but consumed by the students when the class was on," a parent said.

"This is the responsibility of the school to keep an eye on the students and their activities," he said.

The principal, however, argued that it was not possible to check the bag of every student and see that what he or she has been brining from home.
