Islamabad: A 6.6-magnitude earthquake on Saturday struck Pakistan`s northwestern region, causing panic among people, officials said. The epicenter of the quake was in Afghanistan`s Hindu Kush mountains and it struck Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa`s provincial capital Peshawar and adjoining areas. There was no report of any casualty from the affected areas. Pakistan Meteorological Department said the quake was recorded at the depth of 50 kilometres. Other provincial districts which felt the tremor included Mansehra, Chitral, Bajaur, Mingora and Malakand. It was second quake in as many days, following a 5.3-magnitude earthquake yesterday that struck southwestern Pakistan with its epicentre in Balochistan province.
