In a first, Manbir Kaur who is a Gursikh girl, has made the Sikhs in Pakistan feel proud by topping her Matriculation exam by scoring 1023 marks out of 1100.

Nankana Sahib: In a first, Manbir Kaur who is a Gursikh girl, has made the Sikhs in Pakistan feel proud by topping her Matriculation exam by scoring 1023 marks out of 1100.

15-year-old Manbir Kaur has become the first girl from the minority Sikh community to top the matriculation exam in Pakistan.

According to an English website Sikh24.com, father of the girl, Giani Prem Singh, who is serving as a Head Granthi at Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib said apart from studies his daughter Manbir Kaur alos carries out Kirtan sewa at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib along with other jathas there.  

Meanwhile, in order to recognise Manbir’s effort and inspire the community’s youth to excel, the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee honoured her with a siropa (robe of honour) after the result was announced, reported an English daily.

Manbir’s success comes as a ray of hope and inspiration for girls in Pakistan to gain education and eventually become economically independent.
