Johannesburg: Proteas head coach Gary Kirsten has said that success does not come with an easy recipe or a package that the team can use but it depends partly on fate and partly on individual performances.
Kirsten`s success statement comes ahead of the team`s departure for a pre-tournament training camp in Amsterdam as a preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy against India in Cardiff in June, Sport 24 reports.
Kirsten said that he is confident that the skilled team can compete despite the tournament being tough, adding that victory or defeat does not stop them from putting their best efforts.
Kirsten, who guided India to the 2011 World Cup title referred to the team coming together since the end of March when Pakistan toured South Africa and said that though coming together after a break will be difficult, all the players will be prepared for the match.
Kirsten is aware that at some stage South Africa will have to cross the line to win a trophy and said that the base of the one-day international team has been broadened and the team constitutes of players who can contribute in crucial situations.
Kirsten further said that he intends to get things right on a daily basis and he does not do his job only to win trophies but because he loves his work and feels motivated by the fact that he can churn out the best from the players.
Stating that he will be happy at the team`s progress, Kirsten said that he helps players realize their best abilities, not focusing only upon the end result of the game.
