10 idols stolen from temple in UP

Pratapgarh: At least 10 idols of Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman were stolen from a temple in Kala Kankar area, about 70 kilometres from here last night, police said today.

One "ashtdhatu" (alloy of eight metals) and nine brass idols, said to be some 250-year-old worth lakhs of rupees were missing from "Thakurdwara temple" near the ancestral house of Congress MP, Rajkumari Ratna Singh of Kala Kankar estate last night, police said.

A case has been lodged in this regard and efforts were on to recover the idols, police added.
