Class IX student stabs teacher to death in Chennai Chennai: In a shocking incident, a ninth standard student on Thursday stabbed his teacher to death inside the classroom after she allegedly made some remarks against students who did not fare well in studies.

The incident occurred at a private school here when science teacher Uma Maheshwari (39), who also taught Hindi, was taking lessons in class.

The boy stabbed the teacher in the neck and stomach after she allegedly made some remarks against students who did not fare well in studies, a police release said tonight.

The boy has been taken to custody, it said.

School authorities described the incident as "unexpected," and indicated that the 15-year-old boy had come prepared with a plan.

"The incident happened at around 10.50 am when he stabbed the teacher with a knife he had hidden in a book," Fr. Bosco Perianayagam, the Administrator of the school, said.

Other students raised an alarm before the boy fled the scene, he said. However, he was later taken into custody. Uma Maheshwari is survived by two children, Fr. Bosco said, adding "We are in deep grief. This is an unexpected incident."

Nowadays, teachers are behaving like a devil. They must be like a friend. I took pity on that poor boy.

My Deep Condolence to teacher Uma Maheswari’s Family. Tamil Nadu Govt. should support Uma Maheswai’s two daughters. Teacher has to regularly conduct counseling and stress buster programs to the students. Parents are responsible in shaping their child`s attitude from younger age. They have to make up the child`s mind to face such situations even before they enter into schools. Parents have to educate their children how to handle hectic situations in schools to avoid them taking their own decisions which may be destructive. It is very sad to note a boy who is studying 9th Std. had acted in such a brutal manner. Films have a rious effect on the minds of students at an impressionable age. Whatever movie icons may say, the damage caused to society in glorifying violence and unruliness has to be put an end to.

India has no national language. India has two official languages at the centre. Hindi and English. Ref: Indian Constitution. Also numerous court verdicts. It appears that you are ill informed in this matter Nicole. Thank you

Mr. Karthik, he is just a 15 yr old boy, mentally immature at the height of pubertal changes and probably regreting by now. But actual fault is ours ,we are failing to shape our new generation just giving them lots of stress until one becomes such idiot.

i am shocked and stunned. such students should be brutally murderd in the open chowk immediately. Teachers are the Gurus and they are nation builders. One should respect them. It is the most hainous crime and we Punjabies strongly condemn and want only muder of this child in the chowk immediately so that others should learn lesson. Immediate action required, Sir.

present day corporate schools are preparing just morally incapable students in the name of competetion and marks. even parents are building pressure in their children not allowing to enjoy their god` gift i.e childhood. these tender minds which are morally incapable donot have the wisdom in taking a decision. there is an urgent need in changing our education system and it also implies to parents.
