AMU teachers` association attacks VC

The AMU Teachers` Association charged Prof P K Abdul Azis of trying to deliberately run down the CBI by terming its interim report as a gimmick.

Aligarh: The AMU Teachers` Association
(AMUTA) on Monday charged outgoing Vice Chancellor Prof P K Abdul
Azis of trying to "deliberately run down the CBI" by terming
its interim report as a "gimmick".

The AMUTA took out a procession here and set fire to the
booklet listing the achievements of the outgoing VC,
describing it as a "bundle of lies".

Secretary of the AMUTA Mustafa Zaidi said that it was
shocking that instead of displaying concern at the categorical
charges against him mentioned in the interim CBI report, the
VC had said at a press conference that whatever was mentioned
in the interim report, he would be fully absolved in the final
report.

Zaidi alleged that the VC appeared to be confident that
he would use his political clout to dilute the final inquiry.
The teachers have also alleged that the VC was trying to
use his influence to appoint an interim Pro-VC to run the
University affairs till a successor is appointed.

The teachers warned that if the Centre allows this, it
would tantamount to allowing Prof Azis to out his henchmen in
place for covering up all his misdeeds till a new
administration is in place.
