Moradabad: A case of attempt to murder was
on Saturday registered against Samajwadi Party MLA Mehboob Ali and
about a dozen others for allegedly assaulting Peace Party
candidate Naushad Ali and his polling agent here, police said.
Mehboob, who has a criminal background, along with a
group of his minions allegedly attacked Naushad and his
associate Khursheed with sharp-edged weapons when they were
leaving after polling in Kundhan college here, they said.
The duo managed to flee and registered a complaint
against the accused in Amroha, officials said.
Khursheed, who was seriously injured in the incident, was
rushed to a government hospital in Amroha and later shifted to
a private hospital, SP, JP Nagar, Uday Pratap Singh said.
No arrests have been made so far in this connection, he
said.
