Shivpal Yadav`s advice to officials: Work hard to steal a little Zeenews Bureau

Etah (UP): “If you work hard, you can steal a little,” is what Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department Minister and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's uncle Shivpal Yadav is reported to have told PWD officials in the state.

However shocking it may seem to others, for Shivpal Yadav it was okay if district officials in Etah swindled a little in return for their hard work, but not go on to loot people or the state.

"I told PWD officials that if you work hard, you can steal a little but not behave like dacoits," Yadav is reported to have said officials at a meeting yesterday.

However, Yadav sought to do a U-turn today clarifying he had not propagated corruption.

“A debate was going on (at the meeting) on cheating and corruption. The previous government was involved in dacoity. I was telling officials how to stop stealing public money and dacoity. We cannot tolerate corruption. 100 percent there should be no compromise on corruption,” Yadav told a press conference, adding media did not present his full statement.

Earlier, reacting to the remarks, UP Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi said, “If the minister himself says so, then there will be no end to corruption.”

Joshi further said she condemns the remarks.

BSP’s Sudheendra Bhadoria hit out at the SP government, saying there was ‘jungleraaj’ in the state.

“Mayawati ji had said earlier that people will regret electing SP,” Bhadoria added.

very channel is elictiing the comments of Shaihd Siddiqui. Having promoted Narendra Modi, Shahid appears in the eye of the media most deserving and eminently qualified to sermonise on corruption. I am told Modi`s budget merely for his PR projection in the media in the runup to the December Assembly elections is Rs 30 crore. I can only vouch for one thing. Shahidis is not one to be bought cheap. He has always come to the rescue of the rulers in crisis and prospered thereby starting from Shah of Iran in the late 1970s just before Shah was ousted in Iran, to Rajiv Gandhi at the height of Bofors scam, to Narasimha Rao during the demolition of Babri Masjid, it is almost impossible to count the number of times he has devoted himself dilligently to honest professional journalism. He is surely the living eptiome of professional journalism in Urdu and an honest political hermit who has not left untapped the door of any political party. I wish him well and hope he soon joins the BJP and contests on Modi ticket from Ahmedabad and I also wish our journalist brothers who can not distinguish between something said in jest and something stated in earnest, simply because of their predominant upper caste anti-OBC, and anti Dalit prejudice.

Yadav Hitay Yadav Shukhay. First of all, Yadav Govt. deputed all the officers of their choice at the important places. Now this Yadav Minister is asking them to loot the public money. Mayawait rightly said that people will realise that they have chosen bad Govt.

This is nothing to be shocked at. It is a a routine matter in many places to only loot. That is why people pay bribes to get these jobs so that they can loot afterwards. I believe that even if the PWD officials folllow the advise of stealing a little but put in more mork, it would be helpful for the state. Otheriwse anyway they are stealing and looting without any work.
