Roorkee: Deputy Chairman of the
Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia was bestowed the
honorary degree of Doctor of Science by IIT Roorkee on Saturday.
As Ahluwalia was conferred the Honoris Causa Doctorate
of Science (D.Sc.) by the IIT Roorkee management, scores of
ABVP workers gathered outside the premises to protest the
price rise and increase in petrol prices.
The ABVP workers raised slogans against the Centre and
also burnt an effigy of Ahluwalia.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahluwalia exhorted the students
to work for development of the country.
