New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday that she was happy that the judiciary had filed a case against her.

Couple of days back the Trinamool Congress chief had labelled a section of the judiciary as 'corrupt' leading to a massive uproar.

Sticking to her stand Mamata said that 'corruption in judiciary had to be controlled' and that 'there were some good and some bad judges'.

On the issue of electoral reforms she said that it was a matter which had to be undertaken immediately.

However, she also criticised a section of the media for distorting her statement on the Judiciary in the Assembly last Tuesday, saying she had merely spoken about a value-based judiciary.

"Both types of people are there in the world. There are good people and there are bad people. All political leaders are corrupt, it is not that."

"Similarly, all judges are corrupt, I have never said this. Judges are not corrupt.

Lawyers are not corrupt. I had not said this. I had spoken about value-based Judiciary, need for judicial reforms, political reforms, administrative reforms, which were lacking since Independence, and the need for state funding of elections. If that is wrong, then I will repeat it a thousand times," she said while responding to media queries at the state secretariat here.

Banerjee said that what she had said inside the Assembly had been recorded. "Why I will speak here. I told that there is a need for electoral reforms and state funding to help curb corruption".

Pointing at the media, she said, "Why are you engaged in playing dirty games? It may be that there will be defamation against you if you distort. I have the freedom to express my views".

Defending her earlier remarks on valuable time spent by DMs, principal secretaries of various departments and SPs for appearances before committees and authorities, she said "if they were called for five days a week for 15 hours, then how they would find the time to do the work for the people.

"I spoke about pendency is a tendency. You can make out what I mean. Lakhs of cases are pending in court. People do not get justice. In Bengal, the government has cleared one lakh cases through Lok Adalats in the past one year", she said.

Yes, she has the right to express. okay you all who are against her and I ask all the conceern party to take back your own filing against her. The reason: You know it better. She is doing the justice. She has cleared almost one lakh cases which was pending for the past so many years. Try to understand our system of judiciary which follows the calf part. To fight a case for stealing Rs. 200, the culprit need Rs.10000. Is this a so called for the people society and the body. Try to understand. Don`t always and be only against who do against your will. You are being hurt because you are the culprit who got hurt with her speech in the assembly. This is not what I comment but the truth lies here for you. And thanks to Mamata DIDI for your valuable speech. Please continue with your justice.

There contains a very genuine pint in what Smti. Mamata Banarjee said. It is the genral feeling that a rich and powerfull person in India wins in the court of so called justice. The people in charge are delaying the court cases to get bargaining time. This is the opinion of 95 p.c. of people who went to court in India. Since there is no other place to go people still go to court unwillingly. Since Hon.ble Judges are also human beings they may go wrong and may be tempted to take gifts of money. But what did the successive Governments did to reform the courts. Nothing rather the ruling class succeeded in elavating their own close relatives as judges for the shame of the Hon`ble Court itself.

More than three crores cases are pending in different courts of the country. Advocates should explain their position why so much cases are pending. what they did for early disposal of the cases. Judges and the advocates are on league to exploit the litigants. Mamata Banerjee spoke very less against judiciary. The reputation of the judiciary are at stake because of advocates and judges. They should take initiative for early disposal of the cases.

Honestly the denigrating attack by BJP to UPA almost on a daily basis, certainly some were legitimate like those corrupt practices by DMK, has reduced the State to a shaky pot of undecided leaders. Under such weak situation,Anna,Kiran ,Kejriwal made water more dirty ,again with passive support of BJP. Ramdev took the stage so simply by mere shouting supporters by such chilkdish cry to eradicate corruption ,the State had no answer to rowdy irresponsible leaders with such mass following ,cf., Roman mobs of History. How can Mamta Banerjea ,again a leaders with mass following of hooligans & rowdy elemts has dared the Judiciary without a hoot to care one attitude. Again this pulp state can not act strongly for the fear of unpleasent future and rowdism on streets.BJP,TNCP Leaders are forgetting that mute public are no fools. They have done thegreatest disservice to this poor Nation.Yours Truly,Bishnu Digambar

Why the politicians prepare the written statement and read it out instead of blaming the media for all ills. Every politicians has the tendency to say something and then say they did not said like that nor what they say does not amount to the meaning made out to be. If they do not trust the media they should distribute written statement only or they should gag the media.
