Boko Haram terror camps destroyed in Nigeria

The Nigerian Army reportedly launched a major offensive against terror Islamist group Boko Haram and destroyed their camps in north-east Nigeria.

Lagos: The Nigerian Army reportedly launched a major offensive against terror Islamist group Boko Haram and destroyed their camps in north-east Nigeria. The authorities feared attacks by the well-equipped militant camps in nearby areas but the claims are yet to be verified, as per a BBC report. The militant camps had set up dormitories and hospital facilities, Brigadier General Olukolade said during a news conference on Friday, the report stated. The Boko Haram militants planned terror strikes from these camps and co-ordinated their activities from these base. Boko Haram wanted to carve out an Islamic caliphate from northern Nigeria but the country`s president declared emergency in the states of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa where they were prevalent. Over 2,000 people have been killed since the radicals started their killings in 2009.
