Canadian protesters demand Bush’s “arrest” over war crimes Ottawa: Hundreds of protestors have asked the Canadian authorities to arrest former US President George W Bush for war crimes after he reached a Surrey hotel on Thursday.

Bush and his predecessor Bill Clinton were among the keynote speakers attending the annual Surrey Regional Economic Summit at the Sheraton Guildford Hotel. Human-rights groups, including Amnesty International were demanding the arrest of Bush.

Gail Davidson of the Lawyers against the War expressed outrage over the federal government for ignoring its responsibility in not arresting Bush.

“We all know Bush is a war criminal. We all know he’s responsible for the use of torture around the world,” The Globe and Mail quoted her, as saying.

His crimes include the use of “torture” on detainees at Guantanamo Bay and leading an “illegal” war on Iraq, she said.

About 200 protesters had gathered on 104th Avenue. Seniors, students and activists carried signs that read “Shame”, “Waterboard Bush” and “Torturer and War Criminal.”

@ Logan, I recommend you to further educate, or in this case, perhaps, re-educate yourself on the topic of war crimes and the international and domestic United States laws regarding torture. Not only are the former president, vice president, and lawyers of the administration guilty of supporting torture, they were also fully responsible for creating the environment to allow it. The existence of law is the very reason why this is a matter of right and wrong. What they did was a direct violation of both the Geneva Conventions, and United States own policies on torture. Please stop before you defend inhumane acts as merely acts to fortify national security.

Yeah I would like to see how these people would lead a country. Sometimes to give your people the incredibly privlidged Lifestyle some tough choices have to be made to preserve peoples safety and security. Not every decision a President makes is a good one and Im not defending Bush, He is an idiot. But a war criminal? come on people, you might as well call Franklin Roosevelt a war criminal for the interment of Japanese and German people durring world war 2. and what about that atomic bomb? theres a different between harsh acts of war and war criminal. a war criminal commits genocide and murders thousands of innocent people. Torturing a prisoner may be wrong ethically, but may also be the only way to save american lives. its not a simple question of right or wrong in these situations. Oh well, all these people just need something to protest anyways.
