Mumbai: Actors from the film and television industry geared up to play the gentleman`s game after cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar launched the fourth season of Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) here.
The Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) is a non-professional men`s cricket league contested by eight teams consisting of film actors, including from the regional film industry. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, who is the captain of the Bollywood team `Mumbai Heroes` said the tournament was a good opportunity for actors to relax and also showcase their sporty side. "Cricket is a sport which you enjoy. We are not professionals but we play as a team. There are various actors playing in our team," said Shetty. Around 200 celebrities from film industries across India participated in the inaugural event of the tournament. Bollywood couple Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D` Souza were also present at the event. Tamil and Hindi actor, Dhanush said: "I really don`t know which team I am supporting but I just want to watch good cricket. Cricket celebrity league is a great platform for all of us, to come together and develop a friendship. It is very nice to be here, I am very thrilled." Present at the event was also Bollywood film producer Boney Kapoor who owns the `Bengal Tigers` team with the Sahara Group. The eight teams participating in the tournament are Kerala Strikers, Chennai Rhinos, Telugu Warriors, Mumbai Heroes, Karnataka Bulldozers, Bengal Tigers, Bhojpuri Dabbangs and Veer Marathi.
