Corinthians post 41 percent rise in 2012 revenue

Rio de Janeiro: FIFA Club World Cup champions Corinthians reported a 41 percent year-on-year rise in 2012 net revenue at $161 million, according to the club`s latest financial report.

The figure represents a 416 percent increase from 2007, when the Sao Paulo outfit was relegated to Brazil`s second division. More than 43 percent of the club`s 2012 income came via television rights, which climbed from $12 million in 2007 to $77 million last year. Match-day takings soared more than 400 percent over the five-year period from $4.2 million to $17.5 million. Sponsorships and publicity contracts injected $32 million into Corinthians` coffers in 2012, up from $9.5 million in 2007. IANS
