Abuja: Unidentified gunmen today killed two policemen at a check point in Nigeria's northern state of Bauchi.
An eyewitness said on condition of anonymity that the attack took place at a check point in Gubi village along Bauchi-Kano road near the state capital.
According to him, the police officers were shot straight on the head and they died instantly.
Violent attacks on security men in northern Nigeria are mostly carried out by an Islamic militant group, Boko Haram.
The group has been waging a sustained war in Nigeria's northern cities in their bid to establish an Islamic emirate in the country.
