Singapore: Singapore`s first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew is not keeping well, according to local media reports Saturday. 89-years-old Lee, missed his traditional Lunar New Year dinner at his Tanjong Pagar constituency for the first time in his political career during which he has served as the Prime Minister from 1959 to 1990, media reports said.
Lee`s fellow member of parliament Indranee Rajah told some 1,200 attendees at the dinner last night that the senior leader was not feeling well and was not able to attend the annual dinner, according to Channel NewsAsia. "I would like, on his behalf, to extend his apologies for not being here, and thank you for coming in any event... I`m sure you would all join me in wishing him a speedy recovery in the hope that he feels better soon," she said while conveying Lee`s message to the constituents. Lee, who is widely recognised as the founding father of modern Singapore, gave up ministerial position after the May 2011 General Elections but stayed on as an MP from Tanjong Pagar constituency. PTI
