Splitsville for France President Hollande, First Lady Trierweiler

Paris: Putting an end to all speculations over the much hyped love triangle, reports have confirmed the official split between France President Francois Hollande and First Lady Valerie Trierweiler on Sunday. Hollande has officially ended his relationship with Trierweiler, he told AFP over the phone. He said, "I wish to make it known that I have ended my partnership with Valerie Trierweiler." On the condition of anonymity, a presidential aide has also confirmed the news. The president had promised during his new conference that he would clear up confusion over the identity of his first lady before February 11. Trierweiler has been Hollande`s partner since 2006. She assumed the role of first lady after Hollande was elected as president in 2012. However, a few days back, a magazine made a revelation about Hollande`s alleged affair with Julie Gayet, an actor. Trierweiler was later hospitalised due to depression. The news of separation came when she was on her visit to India as part of a French aid agency. Her visit to Mumbai is her first public visit after the scandal. Meanwhile, the magazine, which had brought Hollande`s private life into limelight, has recently been slapped with a fine for breach of privacy.
