New Delhi: The former managing editor of Tehelka news magazine, Shoma Shaudhury, has been summoned by the Goa police along with three others in the alleged sexual assault case against former editor Tarun Tejpal. Goa authorities have summoned Chaudhury and asked her to record her official statement before a magistrate in the case. The summons were issued on Tuesday evening via e-mail and in physical form. The development comes days after Chaudhury resigned as the managing editor of Tehelka in view of her criticism over alleged cover-up on the matter in which a magazine journalist had accused Tejpal of assaulting her twice in a Goa hotel. She also tendered an apology to the Nation Commission for Women (NCW) for alleged "lapses" in handling the case. Tejpal was arrested last Saturday after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected and has been remanded to six days police custody. The victim, in her complaint to Chaudhury had said that Tejpal had sexually assaulted her twice in an elevator in a five star resort during the high-profile ThinkFest Conference on November 7-8. The victim is daughter of a former colleague of Tejpal, who has recused himself from his post as editor after being accused of sexual assault by the victim.
