Mahindra recalls second-gen Scorpio, NuvoSport

Mahindra & Mahindra has recalled the second-generation Scorpio and the recently launched NuvoSport sub-4m SUV in the country. The exact number of SUVs recalled are not known, however, the company is recalling vehicles manufactured until June 2016 since their launch. The country’s leading utility manufacturer will recall the vehicles “for a pro-active inspection of fluid hose.”

“As an endeavour to ensure a hassle free experience for its customers, the company is proactively carrying out this activity,” the company said. The homegrown automaker will contact the owners of the affected vehicles and the inspection and subsequent corrective measures will be carried out free of cost, informed M&M in a Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) filing.

Last month, SsangYong – a fully owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra – had issued a recall for the Rexton SUV in India.  In this recall, the manufacturer will fix the faulty rear driveshaft in the affected Rexton SUVs. According to the automaker, the affected SUVs were manufactured before September 2014. For the uninitiated, SsangYong introduced the Rexton SUV in the country in 2012.

Besides this, Mahindra has also pulled the plug on the production of the slow-selling Verito Vibe. And the automaker has introduced an updated version of the Bolero – christened as ‘Bolero Power+’ – with a brand new 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine, and it now measures under four metres, attracting lower taxes.
