Neeraj Chopra, a 23-year-old son of a farmer from Chandra village near Panipat in Haryana, brought India its first track and field medal in the Olympics in over 100 years.

 

He won the gold medal after producing a throw of 87.58 m in the javelin throw finals on August 7.
