The Election Commission of India (ECI) has shown its dedication to inclusivity by witnessing growth in various voter categories, particularly among women, youth, and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). The inclusion of approximately 82 lakh PwDs, 2.2 lakh voters aged 100 and above, and 48,000 Third gender voters in the electoral rolls signifies a diverse representation within the electorate.

The Election Commission announced on Friday that almost 97 crore Indians will have the opportunity to vote in this year's Lok Sabha elections. To facilitate this biggest democratic exercise, there will be approximately 10.5 lakh polling stations across the country, staffed by 1.5 lakh polling officials and security personnel. Moreover, a staggering 55 lakh electronic voting machines will be deployed.

The ECI is continuously working to ensure that the electoral rolls reflect India's diverse society in a more inclusive manner.

Comparing the electors' data from 2019 to 2024 reveals significant increases across various demographics. In 2019, there were 39,683 third gender electors, which has now risen to 48,044 in 2024. Similarly, the number of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) electors has more than doubled from 45.64 lakhs in 2019 to 88.35 lakhs in 2024. Moreover, the 18-19 age group has seen an increase in electors, rising from 1.5 crore in 2019 to 1.85 crore in 2024.

The inclusive electoral roll now boasts 88.35 lakhs of registered Persons with Disabilities (PWD). The data reveals a substantial presence of elderly voters, with 1.85 crores of electors aged 80 and above. Impressively, the electoral roll also includes 2.38 lakhs of electors aged 100 and above.

India has achieved a historic milestone with over 96.88 crore electors registered for the upcoming General Elections. Among this vast electorate, there are 49.72 crores of male voters and 47.15 crores of female voters. The electoral roll includes 48,044 transgender individuals, reflecting the country's commitment to inclusivity and recognition of diverse identities.
