UPSC Success Story: Failed Five Times, This Lady IAS Officer Cracked Civil Services Exam In Sixth Attempt With AIR 369

Hailing from Delhi, Priyanka Goel completed her schooling at Maharaja Agrasen Model School, Pitampura, and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Delhi University. Her journey towards government employment through UPSC commenced immediately after graduation.

Priyanka Goel undertook the UPSC exam six times. Failing the UPSC CSE 2022 would have left her aspirations of becoming a government officer unfulfilled.

Priyanka Goel's optional subject was Public Administration, wherein she achieved 292 marks. In an interview, Priyanka acknowledged the immense challenges she faced throughout her UPSC journey, unsure if success would ever be within reach.

During her initial attempts, Priyanka Goel lacked comprehensive knowledge of the syllabus, failing to clear the prelims on her first try. Falling short by a mere 0.7 marks in her second attempt cost her a place in the cut-off list.

Further attempts saw Priyanka Goel stumbling in the UPSC Mains and CSAT, compounded by the distressing circumstance of her mother suffering 80% lung damage during her fifth attempt amid the COVID era. Regrettably, she couldn't clear the prelims in this attempt either.

Throughout the years, societal and marital pressures mounted. With only one attempt remaining, Priyanka was determined to showcase her abilities and shape her future. Eventually, her perseverance bore fruit as she secured the 369th rank in the 2022 UPSC exam.
