BJP leder requests ICC to reconsider match shift decision
Kolkata: BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain on Tuesday appealed to the International Cricket Council to reconsider its decision to shift the India-England World Cup cricket match from the Eden Gardens, keeping in mind the interests of crores of cricket fans in the entire eastern region.
"It is a matter of shame that Eden Gardens would not be hosting the match. The cricket lovers not only in Kolkata but also in the entire eastern region should not be deprived of the opportunity to see the match for no fault of theirs," he told reporters.
The BJP leader, who hails from Bihar, said that the ICC and BCCI would take note of the emotions of the people of eastern region who are greatly disappointed at the match being shifted.
Asked if he wanted the CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya to quit in the aftermath of the match fiasco , he said, "All those responsible for it should quit."
To another question whether the CAB and BCCI tussle had led to the shifting of the match from here to Bangalore, he said, "Cricket fans in the eastern region should not be the victims of politics whatsoever."
