London: England wicketkeeper Matt Prior has suffered a setback to his hopes of being recalled to the national squad as he continues his struggle with an Achilles injury, which saw him being ruled out of Sussex`s LV Championship match on Sunday.
The wicketkeeper, looking to win back his England place after being dropped for the final two Ashes Tests, started the season as a batsman only but after missing two county matches it had been suggested he could return against Lancashire. According to The Guardian, Prior is running out of time to convince new England coach Peter Moores, to pick him for the first Test against Sri Lanka on June 12 after he was dropped after three Tests of the disastrous Ashes tour in favour of Jonny Bairstow. However, the report mentioned that he showed glimpses of his old form by scoring a hundred against Middlesex in April. Yorkshire`s Bairstow has been injured, suffering a broken thumb, but he is set to return against Durham on Sunday, the report added.
