The leggie bowled his heart out against Pakistan at the Feroz Shah Kotla in 1999 where he dismissed 10 Pakistani batsmen in an innings.
Throughout his career, Kumble earned the reputation of being a fighter, who refused to give up, irrespective of the circumstances.
In a great act of bravado, the Karnataka-born spinner bowled a terrific spell with a broken jaw against West Indies in a Test match.
