Aamir Sohail not surprised by Pakistan’s defeat Karachi: Former Pakistani captain Aamir Sohail said that he was not surprised at Pakistan`s defeat by Zimbabwe in the opening one-day international at Harare Sports Club on Tuesday, saying that such problems will be repeatedly faced unless and until Pakistan strengthens and re-organises their club cricket.

According to The Nation, Zimbabwe recorded their first one-day win over Pakistan since 1998 by seven wickets with 10 balls to spare.

Sohail said that the regional, district associations and zones are violating the constitution of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by failing to hold even two club level events in the country, although he also slammed the PCB officials at the helms of affairs for not doing anything in this context.

Stating that all PCB cricket, regional, district and zonal officials should be ousted as they are doing nothing for the betterment of club cricket, Sohail also said that domestic cricket cannot be improved in such a scenario, which has shown a lack of better players for the country.

However, Sohail also criticised the Pakistan side, saying that their fielding was not up to the mark, they did not attack the opponent batsmen and never saw close in fielders, adding that their balance in fast bowling was also not right given that they had just two fast bowlers.

Another former skipper Rashid Latif said that the slow start by Pakistani openers Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad cost Pakistan dearly, adding that it is necessary to score at least 70 in the first 10 overs keeping in view fielding restrictions.
