Mumbai: In another major development, it has been revealed that Gurunath Meiyappan has claimed that he was warned in advance about being under the watch of ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit for betting. According to various media reports, an ICC official had warned Chennai Super Kings owner Meiyappan to not indulge in betting. Meiyappan has reportedly told Mumbai Police that someone called “Terry”, who is a member of ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit, asked him to stay away from bookies. “We are trying to establish Terry`s identity before speaking to ICC officials. If required, we will record their statement," a senior police officer was quoted as saying by a leading daily. The police however said that it is possible that BCCI president N Srinivasan might not have been aware of the warning.
