New Delhi: Ravi Shastri and Sourav Ganguly were at loggerheads during the last few weeks over, soon after the decision to appoint Anil Kumble as the head coach of Indian national cricket team was made.

Shastri even went to openly criticize Ganguly of his 'disrespectful' attitude on missing his interview and instead opting to attend a meeting concerning the Cricket Association of Bengal.

Ganguly was quick in his response to the allegations and said Shastri should have been present in person and not holidaying in Bangkok, considering the importance of one of the biggest jobs in cricket.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has revealed that the Cricket Advisory Committee along with BCCI did offer Ravi Shastri a chance to become Team India's batting coach.

As quoted by Mid-Day, Ganguly said:

"Yes, we offered Ravi the Indian team's batting coach post."

Dada also clarified that other CAC members, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, will have no role in appointing Team India's assistant coaches and it will solely be Anil Kumble's call.
