THE GAME HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY CALLED OFF AND REST OF INDIA WIN THE IRANI CUP ON THE BASIS OF FIRST INNINGS LEAD. Wasim Jaffer notched up his 48th first-class century and is now the leading run scorer in the Irani Cup history. ==================================================================================== MUMBAI (2nd innings) Overs: 45 II Score: 129/4 (Jaffer: 80*, Chavan: 2*) Mumbai have lost their fourth wicket in their skipper Abhishek Nayar. He fell to Suresh Raina after being given out caught behind. He didn’t look happy with the decision. Nayar scored 2 (43b). ==================================================================================== MUMBAI (2nd innings) Overs: 40 II Score: 119/3 (Jaffer: 74*, Nayar: 1*) It’s tea on Day 5! Just a few more overs before we hear the formal announcement of this game being declared draw by both the teams. This session has seen RoI bowlers pick three wickets while Mumbai collect 88 runs in 30 overs. ==================================================================================== MUMBAI (2nd innings) Overs: 35 II Score: 114/3 (Jaffer: 69*, Nayar: 1*) Rohit Sharma has once again thrown his wicket away. A flighted delivery from Ojhan and Sharma lofts him over mid off but finds the fielder there in Mithun who accepts a sitter. He scored 1 (7b). Seven runs came in the 35th over including four byes. Meanwhile, the team for the first two Tests against Australia has been announced and Wasim Jaffer has been ingored. So has been Raina. Vijay, Dhawan, Harbhajan and Bhuvenshwar have made the grade. ==================================================================================== MUMBAI (2nd innings) Overs: 30 II Score: 103/2 (Jaffer: 63*, Sharma: 1*) Harbhajan Singh snares Ajinkya Rahane! A flighted delivery from Bhajji and Rahane looks to play it to his off. The ball takes an inside edge, hits the pads and flies to Murali Vijay at forwards short leg. He scored 25 (47b, 4X2, 6X1). Rohit Sharma is the new batsman in the middle. Meanwhile, Jaffer has completed his fifty and continues to impress by scoring three boundaries in Ojha’s seventh over. ==================================================================================== MUMBAI (2nd innings) Overs: 25 II Score: 85/1 (Jaffer: 47*, Rahane: 24*) Ajinkya Rahane has been dropped by Suresh Raina at short third man after he went got an outside edge off Pragyan Ojha. Eight runs came in the over. Off the first delivery of the 18th over, by Harbhajan, Jaffer played a beautiful drive to score his fourth boundary of the innings. Tossed up and Tare goes forward to defend it but ends up gloving it to the right of Shikhar Dhawan at forward short leg. Dhawan dives to take a brilliant one-handed catch that sends Tare packing after scoring 11 (41b, 4X2). Ajinkya Rahane is the new batsman in the middle. He gets another shot to prove himself before the selectors meet today to pick the squad for upcoming Australian series. Meanwhile, Bhajji has been bowling well today. Mumbai are chasing an improbable target of 507 runs to win this Irani Cup tie against Rest of India on the fifth and final day at the Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai have scored 31 runs off the first 10 overs and need another 476 runs to claim victory. Earlier, RoI declared their second innings at 389/5 after Rayudu slammed an unbeaten ton. ==================================================================================== MUMBAI (2nd innings) Overs: 5 II Score: 14/0 (Jaffer: 5*, Tare: 8*) Wasim Jaffer and Aditya Tare have walked to the middle and S Sreesanth Ishwar Pandey will begin the proceeding of the fourth innings. Sreesanth’s first over gets Mumbai off the mark with a single to Jaffer. The second over is a maiden. From the third Mumbai add another run to their total. Off the fourth, Tare scores two boundaries off the second and sixth delivery. The first one through covers while the next came via an edge going through the slip region. The fifth over was going fine but for a short stuff from Sreesanth that was pulled away by Jaffer for a boundary. ==================================================================================== RoI (2nd innings) Overs: 120 II Score: 389/5 ( Rayudu: 156*, Saha: 20*) So, after making Mumbai fielders sweat for 120 overs, Harbhajan Singh has finally declared the RoI innings enjoying a massive lead of 506 runs. Mumbai now need 507 runs to win this Irani Cup tie. A herculean task this for the hosts. Ambati Rayudu returns unbeaten on 156 along with Wriddhiman Saha (20*). ==================================================================================== RoI (2nd innings) Overs: 115 II Score: 382/5 ( Rayudu: 149*, Saha: 20*) A six to Rayudu as he charges down the track and lofts Chavan over long on boundary. Seven runs came in that 112th over. Off the next came three runs and the next two saw RoI add another four runs. ==================================================================================== RoI (2nd innings) Overs: 110 II Score: 365/5 ( Rayudu: 143*, Saha: 9*) Mumbai have finally broken the stand between Raina and Rayudu. A flighted delivery from Dabholkar and Raina skips down the track. He ends up edging it to Rahane at short third man. He scored 71 (106b, 4X8, 6X3). Wriddhiman Saha is the new batsman in the middle. ==================================================================================== RoI (2nd innings) Overs: 105 II Score: 338/4 ( Rayudu: 136*, Raina: 60*) Suresh Raina scored his first boundary of the day off Kulkarni that also brought up his half century. Ankeet Chavan was introduced in the 104th over and Raina lofted him over mid-on for another boundary. Meanwhile, Rayudu continued with his superb innings and scored back-to-back boundaries in the 105th over bowled by Thakur. The first one to deep cover while the second to third man. Raina chimed in with a boundary that came off an edge. It was an expensive over from Thakur as RoI added 14 runs to their total. ==================================================================================== RoI (2nd innings) Overs: 100 II Score: 309/4 ( Rayudu: 123*, Raina: 46*) 12 runs have been scored in the past four overs. The 97th bowled by Javed brought RoI four runs. The next was a maiden. Off the 99th came eight runs including a boundary off the fifth delivery from the bat of Rayudu to midwicket. Concedes just a bye off the first over.
