Faulkner`s ODI heroics not enough to earn him Ashes spot, says Oz media

The Australian media has claimed that all-rounder James Faulkner`s spectacular heroics to win the nation the third one-day match against India are unlikely to keep him in the Test side.

Sydney: The Australian media has claimed that all-rounder James Faulkner`s spectacular heroics to win the nation the third one-day match against India are unlikely to keep him in the Test side.
According to News.com.au, Faulkner changed the course of the match by taking 30 runs from the 48th over, delivered by Ishant Sharma, including carving four sixes to different parts of the ground.
Barely a year after becoming an international cricketer Faulkner, 23, is now one of the first picked in Australia`s one-day and Twenty20 sides, the report said. His lively left arm seam bowling and increasingly damaging late order hitting makes him the perfect white ball cricketer, the report added. However, despite claiming six wickets during a spirited debut in the final Test at The Oval, coach Darren Lehmann made it clear at the time that Australia was likely to play a different combination in the first Test at Brisbane`s Gabba, beginning next month, the report further said. Faulkner may well be included in an initial first Test squad but his Tasmanian captain George Bailey is a much stronger candidate to fill Australia`s vacant batting position, according to the report.
