Comedies are difficult but I enjoy them: Shreyas Talpade

Mumbai, June 11: Actor Shreyas Talpade, who shot into fame with his portrayal of a deaf and dumb cricketer in the Bollywood film ‘Iqbal’, says contrary to his expectations, he is being offered many comedy roles.

‘After `Iqbal’, I thought I would be offered serious characters. But, I am being offered comedies and I feel overwhelmed. Comedies are difficult but I enjoy it," he says. "Audience will find me in the garb of a woman in `Paying Guests` as I and my friends try out different antics while hunting for place to stay in a foreign country," Shreyas told reporters. Along with Javed Jaffri, Vatsal Seth and Ashish Chaudhary Shreyas plays four bachelor friends who are on the lookout for accommodation. "The film is about what they have to do to find a place to live," he says. Referring to his last two comedy films ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’ and ‘Golmal Returns’, Shreyas says doing comedies back to back is not deliberate. "People prefer humour and entertainment. I want to mix and match. `Welcome to Sajjanpur` was a satire while `Golmal Returns` was an over the top comedy." According to Shreyas, the two-month strike affected the film industry as a whole. "There will be a line of releases. Only entertaining, good films will have maximum audiences. "I am relieved that our film is releasing at the right time. Cinema going audiences are hungry for movies and `Paying Guests` will fulfill all their expectations. It is an overall well made film," he adds. On his experiences working with the cast of "Paying Guests", Shreyas says he has become friends with co-stars Ashish and Vatsal. "We also feature in another film called `Seasons Greetings` which is nearing completion." Paritosh Painter is an old friend. "There was a young, positive atmosphere on the sets because we all wanted to make a good film," Shreyas says. After ‘Iqbal’, Shreyas returns to cricket with David Dhawan`s ‘Hook Ya Crook’ also featuring John Abraham. ‘Aage Se Right’ is a satire and ‘Click’ is an horror film, he says. Shreyas, who has produced a Marathi film for Subhash Ghai`s Mukta Arts earlier, is very happy that Marathi films have got good exhibition space in Mumbai in the last few months. "I agree that they had no competition because no big Hindi movie was release. But even if there was competition, Marathi films would have done well. Marathi audiences have an eye for good content," he says, adding that he likes Mahesh Manjrekar`s `Mee Shivajiraje Boltoy` very much. Bureau Report
