Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is set to return to the small screen after a gap of five years, with a stint in the third season of India’s biggest reality show ‘Bigg Boss’.
According to reports, Big B will be featuring in a role similar to that of a host in ‘Bigg Boss 3’. “‘Bigg Boss` is set to get bigger. And Amitabh Bachchan is going to take over as host from Shilpa Shetty, who hosted it last season,” adds a source. Confirming the news to a TV channel, Amitabh said, “I will be featuring as a ‘Pop Philisopher’, that’s the role given to me by the makes and the channel. I would like to analyse what’s going on inside the minds of the contestants of the show who are made to open their lives to the world in front of 80 odd cameras. The job will be that of a weekly reporter, who will go inside and interact with the contestants as well as go to the public and take their opinion about what’s happening inside the house.” The Indian version of the popular British reality show ‘Big Brother’, ‘Bigg Boss’ will have celebrity contestants locked into a house under the surveillance of multiple cameras for a period of three months without any contact with the outside world. Periodic eliminations will take place based on voting by housemates and the audiences. The show is expected to go on air around October. Big B, who had a super hit stint as the host of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ for two seasons, will be seen on the show on the days of the elimination. Amitabh’s inclusion is being looked as a move to increase numbers and rating in the stiff channel wars of the Indian television.
